Annual health Checks
An annual check up is extremely important, especially as your pet ages.
For every year in your pet's life, they age from between 5 & 7 human years. With this perspective in mind, you can see that a lot can happen to your pet's body in this time. A full veterinary examination is important to pick up changes in their physical condition that may alert the Veterinarian to underlying health issues. Please give your vet a full history of your pet's habits at home in the past year such as drinking, eating, toileting and anything else that you may be concerned about.
Depending on your pet's situation, your pet may be vaccinated and wormed as well. Blood tests or other diagnostics may be recommended depending on your pet's age and overall health.
For senior patients, we recommend that they are examined twice a year to ensure that their weigh, teeth and overall health is monitored more closely. Cats and small and medium breed dogs are considered senior from 8 years of age. Large breed dogs are considered to be senior from 5 years of age. It is important at this stage in their life, to get them onto a senior food (as long as they are not on a prescription diet already).
