Information we need when making an appointment

When booking your pets appointment, supply as much information you can about your pets condition, so that our vets can prepare for your appointment. We will also ask you for your contact details.

Please state if it is an emergency. For example:

  • Breathing difficulties
  • Profuse bleeding
  • Poisonings, rat bait, ant bait, human medicines
  • Epilepsy or fitting
  • Road traffic accidents

If you are a new client we will ask you to fill in a new client form on arrival to ensure we have all of your pet's details correct. You can download the form and email it to us or bring it with you to your first appointment. Download New Client Form.

Infectious Diseases

If you think your pet may have such a disease, or are unsure it is best to err on the side of caution. Please inform the receptionist when you make the appointment and again when you arrive at the clinic. You may be asked to leave your pet in the car until such time as the vet is ready to see you. This is to ensure that you don't put any other animals at risk. The hospital has a special isolation ward for such cases. We have disinfection policies in place to prevent the transmission of these diseases.

Examples:

  • Cat snuffles
  • Kennel Cough in dogs
  • Parvo virus enteritis (diarrhoea with blood)
  • Ringworm

There are many others. If you are unsure please ask a staff member.

Advice on common problems

We are happy to give advice on common problems for example flea & worm treatments, dietary questions and behavioural problems over the phone, but please remember if your pet is unwell our reception and nursing staff answering the phones are not qualified to diagnose over the phone, therefore it is in your pets best interest that they be seen in consultation with our Veterinarians.
